Brighter Consultancy Renews its Sponsorship of the Mental Health and Wellbeing initiative at James Gillespie’s High School

Brighter Consultancy is delighted to announce its continued sponsorship of the Mental Health Wellbeing Initiative (MHWB) at James Gillespie’s High School (JGHS) in Edinburgh for the 2024 - 2025 School term. Our ongoing partnership with JGHS will enable them to extend further the range of support services to the students at the school.  

Following our initial investment in 2023, JGHS has been able to invest in some services, tailored towards young male students which was an area the school was keen to target. On the back of some pupil surveys, the school was able to organise 2 VENT programmes and extend the S/He Scotland Champions of Change Programme.

Nikki Graham, Senior Development Officer, MHWB said “All feedback was very positive with the boys feeling safe and secure to have a non-judgemental conversation around their mental health & Wellbeing, and many fed back that these talks and support helped them think more about the choices they made”. 

Nikki went on to say “We saw an overall 4% rise in boys accessing support over the past 6 months. As well as this, we have been able to offer over 700 support spaces, which has undoubtedly been helped significantly by your donations.”

On announcement of the continuing partnership, Graham Bailey, Brighter Group COO stated “Mental Health and Wellbeing is such an important subject to us all at Brighter Consultancy and we are delighted to continue our support with James Gillespie’s School. Having seen the work they do at first hand it was an easy decision for us. We read all too often some of the dreadful stories where kids feel unable to reach out to ask for assistance and if our donations makes the difference to one JGHS pupil, it has been a worthwhile investment”

Neil McCallum, Head Teacher, JGHS on confirmation of the continued sponsorship added “The impact is incredible and the range of opportunities and support that this has allowed us to put in place is just phenomenal. The investment in young people and the difference that this support can make for their futures can not be underestimated.”
